The owner's manual for my 2003 PSD van states emphatically, multiple times, NOT to use any additives with orange colored (long life) coolant. Is this right? The manual specifically mentions that FW-16 must be added to green coolant, but says not to use it with long-life coolant.
OK, I did some research and answered my own question. Apparently 2002 and up PSDs come with "gold" 100,000 mile coolant and require no additives. Anyone need a bottle of DCA4?
First off welcome to TDS, and it will help if you go to "My Home" and down at the bottom click on edit "Personal information, email, password, etc. " and then scroll down and add a general location and a description of you ride under the sections "Geographic Location (State, Country, etc.)" and "Signature (up to 1000 characters). " ... that will help a lot when we try and help and answer your questions.
As far as the additive you're right you don't need it and if the recent info from Ford pans out only the pre 99+ SD's will have to continue to use the old green stuff so you might just have to chalk that btl of SCA up in the live and learn box of owning a PSD ... don't feel bad we've all made more $$$ mistakes than that /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif
Again, welcome aboard and jump in and ask away,
Larry
