Disconnecting the passenger air bag?

Strange as it may sound, I would like to disconnect the passenger air bag only. I have a E-450 cutawy PSD, and frequently take one of my daughters to school. I have another car, but have to backtrack and switch cars again to be on my way. I am concerned by the air bag on the passenger side, and as we know there is know key switch disconnect like the superduties have. If anyone has any ideas or knows how to do it I would appreciate them. Thanks in advance.

Re: Disconnecting the passenger air bag?

I wanted to do the same thing. The dealership told me there is no way to. I assume because of liability. It would seem to me you would just unplug it....but how to you know if it is really off?? I dont know if they have multiple connections to increase reliability?

Re: Disconnecting the passenger air bag?

turbobob and todster4,

Welcome to this great site and enjoy

It will help others to help you if you add the year and specific make of you vehicle in you signature, but if you do a search of all forums for all dates with the search words air bag disable you will find some info that maybe useful.

To find out how to update your sig again go to the News, Comments and Suggestions forum and again do a search on signature or updating signature or changing signature

Re: Disconnecting the passenger air bag?

It is certainly possible, had both of mine disabled when my handicap mods were done (those guys can do anything) -- just need a good auto-electrician. He fakes out the computer with "something" so it won't throw a code. Of course, Ford will say NO to this, they're not into custom work, only by the book...
