E-Series VansTechnical discussion of topics related to vans powered by any of the Navistar engines. This covers a broad number of years, but there isn't enough demand to split it any further.
I just returned from the Souther Smoke Show in Winston-Salem, NC sponsered by powerstroke.org...
I was the only van there
ran on a mustang dyno , the same guys I have run on B/4 the last 3 times so I had a decent baseline from what I had done with the older van
here is what I put down:
333 hp 798 lb torque...I feel like the torque # is higher and not totally realistic but
...
all they pulled to was 2397 RPM with a shutdown after that ..all in all a few heads turned at those numbers ...
run#1 298 hp 901tq 1670 rpm
run#2 322 hp 801 tq 2340
run#3 332.9 hp 795 tq 2390

don't know if the regulated return system entered into the picture but
It should pickup some (small) hp/tork/mpg.
Also the motor should be quieter.
This would happen with just air removed from the fuel.
How high did bean set the pressure. 62psi max seems to be the # the PSD with splits likes.
I couldn't see the gauge when they set the pressure cause its buried behind the reg.return but Bean did say that the splits like it between 65-70#...Bean set it himself with another reading the gauge from the rear..
Good numbers Bill, why the big difference from 1st run to the 3rd? How do they do a run? 1st gear only? If so, a few seconds your maxed out? Do you have original/stock injectors inplace? & where, now, is regulator at? Can it be installed under van by fuel pump, for easy access?
Also you will notice 2397 max rpm. It has more in it!
Wonder if it started to defuel or they shut it down.
My bet would be that van was cool then warmer also. Run 1,2,3
Either way 1670 rpm would be a good cruise rpm to have. By 2300 it lost 100 ftlbs.
Six might be looking for 355 after all.
sweet!! ,six sounds like you had some fun!!! got to believe RR system helped better fuel delievery always has to be a good thing my van was like night and day when i installed system , and yes installation on a van is a PIA and to top it off it was like 10 degrees out and i did it in my driveway(don't ask i still think i am 19)but with that said now that i have done one i think doing one again would not be that hard.nice #'s proud to be a vaner!

The dyno guys protect themselves...usually the first run is a warm up and I know of at least 2 trucks that had water leaks and were pulled off after the warm up pull...
example: my first pull Ended at 52.4 MPH...
Borq...they strap the vehicle down on the dyno ...ease on throttle until it shifts into 4th gear ( OD locked out on automatics) (manual trans into high)and then its full throttle ...my second run ended at 76.3 MPH, 3rd run ended at 77.4 mph
soo there's not a whole lot of full throttle action ..if you want to dyno your own vehicle you can and then you can do what you like
Wade, my hats off to you for installing one of these RR systems
by yourself...my throttle response has been just great since the install...my engine is smoother and quieter +I am having a lot of fun smoking ricers that won't let me get out of the passing lane safely...
Sounds like a great event. It suprises people when a vehicle the size of a van moves out pretty good.
