E-Series programmer question

posted this another part of the forum but got no response so i thought id try it here, learned a little more about it since posting it there but im told the E series doesnt have an actual programmer available with different tunes everything i have to do to it will be custom, or so im told, whats the deal?

Brought a 2005 E350 6.0 pwerstroke online from a diesel specialist dealer in IL guy tells me its been made bullet proof from his tech and came from Arizona (which is true, the Arizona part anyway) and it has an EGR delete and SCT tuner with it, I have it shipped here to GA and the EGR is still installed (apparently its just been plugged) and the SCT tuner is nowhere to be seen!

so i call and they say they will send the tuner if they can find it but i wont need it since it had a "custom tune" because its a California spec emissions van the tuner wont do anything, i asked why i wasn't told this to start with when i first talked and didnt really get an answer, anyway other than the power steering pump going out after 45 miles and it needing a water pump and glow plug module, rear brake pads and three of the steering joints (700 bucs!!!) its pretty much bullet proof lol

gotta love a dodgy dealer

anyway my question is the SCT tuner they are supposed to be sending me can i use other tunes on it or is it just a one tune job and thats it? the custom tune sounds like more bull crap along with the bullet prrofing the tech was sposed to have done but i thought i might ask anyway

any ideas about the SCT would be helpful, they are supposed to be shipping it to me anyway and my mechanic (used him for years) just handed me an 1800 dollar estimate to fix everything!

at least once everything is sorted its going to be a very nice van

I know nothing of SCT, but you might check out DP-tuner. I know they have tunes for the 7.3; don't know about the 6.0.

Nice looking!!! What size tires and wheels are you running? Is it lifted or 4wd? Any rubbing?

I think if you do not install a coolant filter and a correct EGR Delete BulletProofDiesel - Darn-Near Bullet Proof Diesel Products for your 6.0 all the tuner will do is blow it up.... or at least stretch those already suspect head bolts....

E-Series programmer question

You get a chance to look at tire and wheel size? You get any rubbing?

I would guess that most tuners could send you an sct tune for that van.

I know Eric at innovative diesel knows how to tune properly and deals with SCT. I've heard good things about Swamps too. I'm a gas tuner and don't know enough about diesel tuning to attempt it.

put my van back to stock today with the SCT tuner and its sooooo much nicer to drive I think i might even keep it that way! changes gear nicer changes gear sooner doesn't sound so loud and starts better!

sct tuner should have several tunes loaded that you can pick. from econ to performance. if its a sct livewire than you can use it for gauges too. Eric can help u, MPT.com has a good tuner also. SCT and 6.0 powestrokes go hand-n-hand.

A custom tuner can fix the shift points, starts, etc. SCT canned tunes are not ideal for many people. I retune a bunch of the gas cars for customers that want stock shifts at part throttle, but max performance at WOT. I think they set it up real aggressive so that people think, whoa, these tunes kick ass and do a ton.
