E350 brake issue

Hey all,

My 92 E350 7.3 has some wierd brake issues. The brakes will either work well, or the pedal will go right to the floor. When the pedal does go to the floor, the brakes will lock, sort of all or nothing. the brake fluid is full, and the "brake" idiot light is not coming on...Any ideas?

Thanks,
Jeremy

Re: E350 brake issue

Does yours have 4wheel ABS or RABs only. Have you done a booster repair or replacement lately. Any brake work done lately.....

Re: E350 brake issue

No brake work done recently....I believe she only has RABS...Is that significant? I'm starting to think master, because when I pump up and hold the brakes with the engine off it gets hard, and, while still holding the brake, I start the truck and the pedal eases to the floor. That means the booster is good right?

Jer

Re: E350 brake issue

Either the master is toast or you have a rear drum /adjustment or wear problem. TRY to adjust the rear brakes first. If the booster was fried you would hear a hising noise and or you would loose vacuum.
