exhaust smoke under boost

I noticed quite a bit of smoke coming out of the exhaust when I got heavy on the pedal. The van is stock with 124,000 on the odometer. It uses some oil inbetween oil changes.

A friend told me the oil seals in the turbo are probably the problem. If this is the case, can the seals be changed ?

Thanks for any input.

Re: exhaust smoke under boost

What color is the smoke?

If it is black or gray, I would suspect a boost leak.

Re: exhaust smoke under boost

From what I can see from the sideview mirror the smoke appears to be gray.
