Exhaust tip installation

The exhaust tip that I ordered today should be here on Wednesday and I'm not sure about the installation procedure. The end of my exhaust pipe is about 3 ~ 4 inches back under the van and the end is 15" from the last hanger. The tip is 18" long. I can butt the end of the tip against the hanger and then the curve of the tip will be at the outer edge of the side of the van.

Question: Should I install it as is and leave 15" of exhaust pipe inside the tip, or should I cut off the tail pipe so that there's only a few inches remaining for the tip to clamp to? Does it really matter?

don't cut your tail pipe...

install it over pipe....if you want good insurance on not losing your new extension...run a s/s machine screw thru the extension into the tail pipe
