Final Charge Coolant. Anybody use/try it?

I found a coolant at WalMart and Pep Boys called Final Charge. www.finalcharge.com I don't want to start a huge Jedi coolant war, I was just wondering if anybody has used/tried it or heard about it?

I put it in my 99 PSD about 6 months ago. 90 degree ambient temps pulling #7000, my H2O temps are about 180-200. Unloaded 170-190.

Just curious, not looking to start.

Many of us have used different brands of ELC coolant. However this coolant does not state (on the site) that it gives cavitation protection. While I know the PowerStroke engine is not as prone to cavitation as the IDI, I would still want the protection of SCA's.

Sure it does....

"Compared to the inhibitors used in conventional coolants, FINAL CHARGE Coolant forms a thinner, longer lasting film on engine metals that protects against cavitation and corrosion."

The Final Charge is an excellent coolant for the PSD, and it provides heavy-duty cavitation protection. It meets the CAT EC-1 spec, which in my opinion, is the most strict diesel coolant spec in the industry. It also meets many other tough specs including International's B1 performance spec. Over the years this has been a very popular and successful coolant with diesel fleets.

The only issue might be your build date. If your engine was built prior to 2/2/99 (SN 940614) then using an OAT-based coolant like the Final Charge is not recommended by International (who made the engine) due to some combatibility issues under some conditions. After that, International made some changes to the engine and you're good to go with an OAT-based coolant like the Final Charge. I would certainly use it over something like the OAT-based Gold that still contains conventional inorganic materials.
