Re: Front vs Rear Track Solutions
First, lets correct a few things, Correct tracks were originally made for GMC/Chevy trucks because they needed or could use a correction of about 4 inches. Ford E-350 vans only have a difference of about 2.4 inches, Front track= 69.4" rear track= 67". Those numbers are for 92 through 97. After they started putting rear disc brakes on in 98 or 99, I'm not sure of the numbers, and they might of changed again when the Dana 60 semi float rear axle started going on in the spring of 2001...... So, with Correct tracks;.... It appears to me that fender flares may be required even with stock tires. You can rotate all 4 or 5 tires. Less body lean/roll. Rollover resistance, preceived and real, would be increased..... I have WELD wheels on the back of both of my vans most of the time with about a 1.25" negative offset, so the total track increase is about 2.5". These are 16.5x8.25(also avalible 16x8) wheels with 33 and 35 inch tall tires. The measurement from the outside of one tire to the other is probably about 5 inches more than the stock wheels and tires. I can only "rotate" tires side to side.... So, to widen the rear track with wheels, and stay with a 16x7 wheel, and do it enough to "feel" a difference, you would have to find a wheel with a negitive offset of atleast 1.5 inches. That would be a "back spaceing" of about 2.5 inches, I've looked, and cant find any yet. Also the wheels would not look the same front to back. (not necessarily an issue for everybody) Tony
