Fuel Capacity E350 2003

I checked my owners manual and searched online. All the information says I have a 35 gallon tank. Yesterday, and this is the second time, I put in 35.8 gallons. I pulled up to the pump running, no sputtering, nothing. The low fuel light was on and the guage was in the middle of the red zone. I probably could have put more in but I was tired. I never have got it to the point where I see clear fuel at the top of the neck. Does anybody know the exact specs? I have heard rumors the 2003 has a 37 gallon tank. Yes, I know I should not have run that low but I had driven all the way from FT Smith, AR 600 miles and wanted to be through Birmingham, AL before rush hour.

I know the super duties have like a 37 or 38 gallon tank. Perhaps for 2003 they changed the size on the vans. Perhaps earlier. I have seen stuff in the manuals that was for older vehciles and didn't apply to the one at hand. I would think though the capacities chart would be correct.

It is not uncommon for plastic tanks to expand during use. If the 2003 model has a plastic tank, this may be an explanation.

The Excursion is 44 gallons, 38 on long bed pickups and 26 for short bed pickups.

Re: Fuel Capacity E350 2003

Thanks for the replies but I still do not have a definite answer. Everything I find says 35 gallons. Here is a good web site full of info on the Vans.

Re: Fuel Capacity E350 2003

It's probably 35 like the manual said, but that is with an air gap at the top, I've put 31.8 gal in my "28gal" tank in my SB CC before, but that's filling it to the neck.
