E-Series VansTechnical discussion of topics related to vans powered by any of the Navistar engines. This covers a broad number of years, but there isn't enough demand to split it any further.
What MPG do most of you get? What rear end? Hoping to order soon. Seems the diesel should do much better than the gas.
Appreciate the comments!

Diesel does better than gas. It has more energy Page Ranking gallon, and diesel engines have a higher efficiency. Thats the reason for that an idling diesel engine hardly gets hot.

E350 Superduty Bus....It's nine and a half feet tall and weighs 9100# alone. I pull a 18X8.5 enclosed car trailer with it...full of my road race bike and lots of racing fuel.
4.10 rear end...best mileage was 15MPG, but I regularly get 12.5 to 13.5.
My gas 351W van got 6 to 8 pulling the same trailer.

My 03 with the 3.55lsd has just over 15k on it and I have averaged 17.672 for combined driving. The highest I had was 22, but I think I might have short filled the tank. The 17.6 figure is over all the fillups and probably very accurate. I don't drive it slow on the interstate. If I did, it would no doubt show a mile or two more mpgs.
Yeah, you absolutely must fill to the point where you can see the liquid (without any foam)in your filler neck.
Drive for a thousand or more miles.
Fill up again until you see the liquid in the filler neck.
Now, you can do the computations with some confidence.
I am constantly surprised at how much diesel that I can keep stuffing in that tank after it shuts off.....especially when the price is low.
My MPG results are about in line with majority above.....didn't get the good stuff until about 15K.
Suggestion: Do a search for MPG and "miles per gallon" and "fuel mileage" on this forum.......we've been over this topic before and there were some good comments.

PS: remember, the expense decision for or against owning a diesel are much more than just MPG.
