fuel injector cleaners

I was looking around the auto parts store a few days ago and saw a $20 or so gallon jug of fuel injector cleaner. Has anyone had any experience with this stuff? You're supposed to fill the fuel filter with it and then pour the rest in the tank. I was hoping to clean the fuel injectors on an 84 E250. Are there cheaper alternatives?

Re: fuel injector cleaners

Stanadyne Performance Formula. I bought two bottles (enough for 4 tanks treatment) for 14.00 after tax yesterday. It was highly recommended to me by a Ford diesel mechanic. I'll try it out and post my results.

If you dont want the cetane boost in the Performance Formula, they have their Performance Jr formula which is basically the same but without the cetane boost.
