gauges not working

well, it started about 3 weeks ago where i would see the speedometer jumping up while driving,(thought i was seeing things) then yesterday, the volt, oil pressure, and water temp gauges started going crazy, now i have nothing but the idiot lights and the odometer, i checked the fuse out for the gauges, location 14 , and its ok.

any suggestions???????????

thanks

Re: gauges not working

i was thinking the same, i messed around today for a little, took the dash apart, made sure all the wire plugs were seated properly, but no luck , time to get out a meter and a wiring diagram, if i dont get it working sunday , i think it s off to the dealer. earlier last week when it started to wack out, i hit the dashboard alittle and everything fixed itself, but several times the van stalled , i'm thinking its something in the cluster itself. i really dont want to dealer it, i had a friend who had a similiar problem a couple years ago, and the dealer replaced the whole instrument panel , and the vehicle became TMU , true mileage unknown, and the value went to nothing. Re: gauges not working

gauges fixed!!!!!!!!! found that the plastic sheet printed circuit board that s folded into a modular plug on the back of the instrument cluster had not been making good contact. it was a bit of pain staking work to tighten up the connections ,but now all is working. another problem that came along with the gauges out was when i drove to work tuesday, and couldnt start the van after stopping found out also the gauges are part of the control for the charging system, and once the gauges worked, the batteries were charging fully again.
