Got my 19.5's today!

I got the Vision 81's from Rickson. Just a pair for the rear of my E350.

$590.30 CDN once all the dust settled at the border. That includes the $12 to receive them at Ship Happens in Sumas, WA and the 6% GST levied at the border. (no 7% PST by the way). Les Schwab in Lynden quoted me $310 each plus I'd have had to pay state tax on top. Wheels-West up here could get them too, but were even more $$$ than Schwab.

I tried to get tires mounted right away, but Abbsry Tire had run out since me checking 2 weeks ago. I'm not a big fan of the "Triangle" brand, but the price has convinced me... $240 CDN each mounted & balanced. They are a 245/70R19.15 in a healthy traction tread very similar to a Goodyear G622. Load rating is supposed to be H and 4800#. They will have stock again on Friday.

Its gonna be nice rolling on rubber that isn't a baloney-skin.

The wheels and tires went on today

The center caps aren't deep or wide enough for the Ford hubs. I'm going to call Rickson about that in the new year.

The strangest thing is how these 16ply tires ride so smooth. I wonder if that's a sign how hard I was working those 16" 10/E tires.

Re: Got my 19.5's today!

Yes. They are a healthy 33" tall. The stockers were 30".

I only have them on the rear. I'm not sure they'd fit on the front.

Re: Got my 19.5's today!

I have 265/70R17 on the front of my van. They fit fine (also 33" tall). I do have 4600# springs though so it sits about an inch higher than stock, and doesn't drop much at all when loaded. Since the 19.5s are narrower than mine, I'll bet they wouldn't touch even with stock spring rate. I run 235/80R17 in the back.

Van

PS - dropping bumper valence was cause by trying to drove though a snow bank that was actually solid ice. NOT cause by oversized tires.

Re: Got my 19.5's today!

A 225/75R19.5 might be do-able. But you need a 6" or 6.75" wheel for those.

I just came across these:
http://www.southwestwheel.com/wheels/alcoa/661401.htm

Would be if/when I decided I need bling wheels for the front. But I think the stock 16" steels with hubcabs is just fine for now. Note that traction tires are tough to find for 17.5".

EDIT: added a couple more pics in the URL above

Good catch. Not hard to change that detail.

I may look at recentering some DRW 19.5s for the front. Their weight rating (3000#ish) is ample.
