Help!, factory keyless entry install !!

I have got a factory System 1 keyless entry from the dealer and am having trouble getting it wired correctly. The main problem is I don't have the correct wiring guide for my van so unless one of ya'll can help me out I will have to wait until Monday. There is a tech line where I guess they can get me the wiring info. I am having trouble figuring out which door lock wires to either splice into or cut into, there are two or three different lock types and different ways to hook them up. It will work one way but blows the fuse everytime so I guess it isn't wired right. Has anyone put one in their van? I followed the wiring scematic for a 97 and evidently it is not the same as a 96, or is it?

Re: Help!, factory keyless entry install !!

OK, it looks like I stumped ya'll again!,

I got the proper wiring designations this morning by calling the 1-800-FORD-KEY tech line, they were very helpful. Looks like I was tapping into the wrong wires. Like I was saying I had the guide for the 97's and figured it was the same as the 96's but oh no, that would be too easy!!

Re: Help!, factory keyless entry install !!

Got it finished. In case anyone is wondering our vans are a type A system. The kit from the dealer was almost $200, probably not the cheapest around but it is the real deal, says Ford on the transmitters. (even though they are actually manufactured by CodeAlarm) If you buy one today it will only come with the current wiring locator charts.

Did you originally have power or manual locks?

Re: Help!, factory keyless entry install !!

I already had power locks so it wasn't too bad of an install. I think I have a bad actuator or a switch somewhere though. It will occasionally blow a fuse on one of the keyless entry inputs. This is gonna be a tough one to chase down but I think I have it narrowed down to the front passenger door. Other than that it works great!!
