E-Series VansTechnical discussion of topics related to vans powered by any of the Navistar engines. This covers a broad number of years, but there isn't enough demand to split it any further.
The operation of power door locks the sliding door is by two contacts mounted in the front edge of the door and two contacts mounted on the post that the door closes against. These contacts have a metal center mounted in a rubber grommet and pushed into the door and frame. Mine are totally worn out and have to be replaced. I've been on RockAuto plus a couple of other sites and can't find them listed. Anyone have any idea what the official name of this part is or even better the part number?
Thanx Roboto. I just called my local Ford parts and the guy was clueless, so I'm on the way down with the van and the part. The slide power lock hasn't worked in many years but with no wires going into the door, I didn't know what to check. Now I do, and it'll be an easy fix if I can find the part.
Here you go, try these guys.. They bascially sell OEM Ford Parts online and are usually less expensive then what you pay at the stealership. I haven't used them yet, but I've used a similar online site for chevy parts.
Thanks guys, I appreciate the help. Cerveja, the link you provided works for newer model fords and Mad, the link you provided is newer and primarily for mini-vans; I found them both. But, really guys; I'm blown away that you took the time and effort to find the links and try to help. Thank you, I really appreciate it.
I went to the dealership with the part in hand and honestly!! they had to go to the microfiche machine. The computors didn't have anything back as far as '85. Anyway, there are two contacts on the door and two on the forward, locking post. Believe it or not, the upper contact was 6 bucks and the lower (identical part) was 20. They are identical except the 'slide' post of the male part; left on the upper and right on the lower. I ordered the $6 contacts and used my drimmel to cut off the slide. Works fine. A ford dealership in Beaumont, Texas had the parts and according to San Marcos Ford, Beaumont always has keeps older parts on stock. So guys/gals, if you have an older model Ford, Think Beaumont.
It is refered to as a Sliding Door Connector Assembly on my E series info. Sorry no part #.... Nice to see it's fixed..
