Re: Help locate harness for AIC hookup

It's behind the kick panel on the drivers side. As I remembered I had to search around for it. It was burried in a hole or something. It's there, it may be hard to find. Look where all the wires go into a hole.....

Re: Help locate harness for AIC hookup

OK time to start learning...What is an AIC?

If it is the trailer brake controller harness I found mine up on top of the engine cover. It was also brown, when my owners manual said it was gray.

Re: Help locate harness for AIC hookup

The connector for the AIC on my 03 was taped to another piece of the harness with several wraps of tape. It was on the drivers side, in the wiring bundle on the left up behind the ebrake area. The connector on the AIC will tell you what to look for.

Superbeast, the AIC is a box that allows you to control the idle speed electronicly to whatever you want it to be. Mainly used for trucks with PTO needs, like wreckers. I got one as the simple solution for a tach. It also has a nice "voltage protect" feature that keeps the idle up in response to heavy volatage loads so the batteries doon't get flattened - again made for emergency vehilce use, but nice for jump starts and the like...

Re: Help locate harness for AIC hookup

The AIC (Auxiliary Idle Control) is a box that has a numeric readout that lists the current engine speed and has an up and down control to adjust the idle manually or it can be programmed as listed above to increase idle for extended idle with emergency lights/equipment activated. It is a commercial option from Ford. Here's the manual from Ford in PDF format for more information:

Later,
Joe

Re: Help locate harness for AIC hookup

You can see it in my pictures. I mostly use it to up the idle speed when I need to leave my dogs in the truck with the A/C blasting.

AIC

With the digital readout, it's also pretty clear when that BTS tranny is locked up.....
