I have a 1995 Ford E350. The horn and cruise control stoppped working. I believe it was around the same time. But not possitive. I have checked all of the fuses in the interior fuse box.
I pulled the stearing wheel cover off to look at the switches and wires. It appears that only 3 wires are used for all the switches (5 cruise control and 1 horn). How does this work? I have a Chilton's book but it doesn't cover the horn or cruise control. So I could use some schmatics of the electrical system for horn and cruise. mikep_1998@hotmail.com
I dont know much except what I'v read around here. If you have an air bag be carefull!!! Darthsurplus just went thru alot to findout why cruise control quit. He finally got it scanned & said it was the best sollution instead of wasting time with trying parts.Sounds like a clock spring problem though, even though I have NO experiance.Did I say be carefull of air bag ? you test-light wrong connector & ?????
If the horn and cruise control stopped working odds are better than not it is the clockspring. The clockspring is located behind the steering wheel. You don't have to pull the wheel to check it but you do to change it. I will copy in a link to another thread with more explanation how it works.

If your airbag light has also changed its behavior, you have a perfect trifecta pointing towards your clockspring. Even if I had a perfect clockspring trifecta, I would STILL SCAN FOR CODES AND PERFORM A SWITCH SELF-TEST FIRST

There is one wire that sends all of the cruise and horn button inputs to a controller. Each of those six buttons causes this control wire to be at a different voltage. The controller responds based on the voltage it reads.
Don't change parts. Persevere and find a code scanner capable of initiating the on-board diagnostics FIRST !! !! !! !! !!
Good luck!

Thanks for jumping in there with this stuff, guys. I was working on it, but was called away in the midst of all that typing.

Interesting, This I didn't know. Is the controller you mention above the infamous and frequently cursed GEM module I have read about or is it unique to just those functions in the wheel?

Where is the horn relay?
I am working on putting a set of electric horns on the van and am trying to find the relay for the horns......

Depending on year and model, it can be the GEM or it can be the PCM. On mine, it's the PCM. I think.
There's an interesting experiment to perform the next time I pull my PCM. See if the horn will honk with the PCM out of the truck.
I don't know where it is, But you could unplug the stock horns then hit the horn and listen for the relay clicking and track the location that way. Quicker with a helper.

I would be looking at the fuze under the hood.. it is a very small one.
Because of my horn set up , there are times that I lose the horn and yes the curse control.
