How much refrigerant do we take, with rear air and all...

I went to a AC place today and they told me 68 ounces, i assume they are talking about R-12. But... anyone know? I plan on using duracool soon, so i need to figure out how much to buy.

I must say it's always interesting driving a diesel van. They don't do anything small or cheap!

I just put in some of this Freeze 12 stuff. Six pack was $50 or something.

Only took five cans...and I have a E350 bus...dual air with one compressor.

So far so good.

that is a handy sheet.

Do you have a thermometer to tell how cold it gets at the vents? I want this thing to work like new. I have heard good things about freeze 12.

Freeze 12 is 80% 134a and 20% 142b. The advantage to using freeze 12 is the 142b carries mineral oil better than straight 134a. You don't have to flush the old oil out of the system. The dis-advantages are many. It is a blend. You have to have dedicated recovery equipment. It can't be recovered and reused and remain a consistent blend. You should always charge a vehicle with new product. Not many shops like to use the stuff because of this. It is more than double the price of 134a.

The best way to do a conversion is to flush the old oil from the system and recharge with R-134a and POE 100 oil.
