A.I.C.dealer headaches! - Diesel Forum

Called the dealer today to see if i could order a A.I.C.and was told i couldnt order it since my truck is being built as we speak. [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif[/img]I told him that he could backorder the part for me and i would pay in cash(figuring that when the van was ready the piece would already be there at the same time). [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif[/img] and he said it couldnt be done either [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/phoney.gif[/img].He said that he would call an aftermarket place to see if they could install an after market A.I.C. for me and they informed him that they will not because they dont want to chance voiding the warranty. [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/phoney.gif[/img]NOW IM GETTING PISSED with my dealer and tomorrow im calling him with the part number which i had gotten off one of the past posts here and i WILL give him a piece of my mind [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif[/img]!!!!!!!!!!!!Not only that but i will tell him a thing or three never mind a thing or two [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif[/img].What kind of people sell these trucks.He handles all the orders for the dealership pertaining to the psd vans.Either im doing too much research into this A.I.C. thanks to this board because ford is too slow and i need to keep myself busy and entertained.let me explain.#1/because of the posts i read pertaining to this piece of hardware when they build the truck the Ford factory workers do not install this piece they throw it in the back of the van in a cardboard box(like its less than an after thought).#2/even the dealer doesnt install it during prep so whos pulling whose leg.(the new owner has to do it)#3 the wiring and the plug are already there in the wiring harness somewhere by the break pedal.I dont even work for ford and i have to talk the dealer into selling me this piece of hardware and educate this guy about his own product.What gives? [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shrug.gif[/img]Should i go to the top of the heap to get some satisfaction?

1. The guy you're dealing with is either an idiot or a real scammer, probably the former.
2. In your search of this site, did you come across a guy that sells the ford AIC for around $400. ? If you did, buy it from him. If you didn't, look in the F-series section, find him, buy it from him.
3. The only aftermarket part of the AIC is the mount you'll design and build yourself ( a lot of guys in here have done it )
4. Don't make too many waves at the dealership. I've found people that have trouble connecting simple dots, REALLY have trouble following logic and / or common sense.
5. Don't waste your time talking to idiots.

Paul and Larry,
I called the dealer back this morning and explained to him very calmly that maybe i missinformed him on the technical name of the piece and i explained about my idea of what i was planning on doing as far as ordering and paying separetly for the part and how when you order the part the owner still has to install it and also how the plug is where it is yad,yada,yada......the cost from the dealer is $696.60+tax so altogether its $738.40.it'll take 1 week for delivery.i checked on the post that larry gave me which had a better price but it was for the f-series trucks.I'm gonna give them a call right now to see if they carry the part for the e-series vans.i"ll keep you guys up to date.also im gonna get a price thru my part time job at the body shop i work for.

You might want to check, but the units for the F-series and E-series should be the same. There is I think one w/o a digital tach that is for ambulance pkg. You want the one withthe digital tach and I have a pic of it in my webshots site, can't remember the album, but if you can't find it let me know and I'll look it up.

I ordered a Sportmobile top from SMB Texas and they sold me a Enhanced AIC for new vehicle price $170. When SMB purchases new PSD vans for customers, they always add the AIC option. However, some customers don't want or have need for the controller. Give them a call, not sure if you need to be a SMB customer? Either way, you can order both units with the part number above for F350 or E350 mounting brackets from any Ford dealer with a parts computer.

Good point on the mounting brackets and great references...I forgot about that bracket thing [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif[/img]. I and several others didn't like the factory bracket taking up the cupholder spaces so I and I think at least one other mounted them on top of the doghouse using the coin holders, which doesn't effect the cupholders.

7up, if you end up with an AIC/APCM with the F series bracket and really want a Van mounting bracket let me know it's yours since I'll never use mine.

Take larries advice get the tach opt.
Also I know what your going threw. When I ordered from B&K I had to reorder 4TIMES yes 4TIMES!!!. I couldn't get it threw ther thick heads and i gave them there code numbers CROME STEP BUMPER. 4TIMES to get a stupid bumper. Be very specific and check your order sheet. AND REMEMBER ABOUT WHAT WE DISCUSSED ABOUT THE DETAIL!!!

Details,details,details(i remembered what you said)........thats why my brain is getting WACKED-OUT.Im trying to get it right the first time.It can be a little frustating but at least i can catch up to you in the neiborhood and pick at your brains.but i cant find ya....you must be workin hard at work or on your van(Maybe your hiding out from me)lol.Ive never messed with drugs but this site is just too much for me.what i mean is that when i go to work i think of this site as far as the info goes(more input).I just cant wait to get home to get on to see what more info i can glean off this site.THIS IS MADDNESS.heheheheheheheh!!!wait when the van comes my wife is gonna freak.If she thinks im bad now with this internet and site she hasnt seen nothing yet.but then again she knows me pretty well and shes getting preppared with the straight jacket and the ropes to hogtie me.(LMAO)Good thing all you guys know what im talkin about otherwise i sound like i should be committed.
