I dyno'd my DP-Tuner

Other than a DP-TUNER, my 7.3 is completely stock from the paper air filters to the factory muffler. I rented the Dyno at NexGen in Hayward, CA for an hour and ran through all of my 8 settings twice giving 2 minute idling breaks in between. I was stunned. In my 80-tow high altitude, at the wheels my van gained 190 lb/ft of torque and 105 hp! These chips are absolutely unbelievable. I can't wait to dyno it again with my 4" exhaust and intake in a few weeks.

Most definitely. It'll take a little while though, the dyno charts use a specific software by DynaJet that's only PC compatible which is exactly what my Macintosh isn't.

Cool, I've always wondered what my actual numbers are (or at least from a van). I've also suspected that the boost was higher than advertised... Love to see what the other settings are too.

see signature.....old, very old 80 econo tune...like over 3 years old now....I was running an 01 computer in my 98 van....swapped over to the 02 van (with Jody's blessings)..

335hp

all runs on same dyno....operated by the same company...

I am sure the newer programs have some better tweeks in them but the old program still works for me...

Yep, it sure seems like all of the settings I have are actually boosting beyond their ratings.... No complaints here!

What I'm not sure of is how these chips boost our power...

Do they simply "add" 40 or 80 hp, as advertised, or do they "set" us to a power level that is "40" or "80" hp above some advertised stock level?

If it is the latter -- since vans are underpowered to start with (compared to trucks), that would explain the higher than advertised boosts that we may see or measure. Do truck owners experience this as well? Maybe we are just being brought up to "truck level".
