Injector swap / big oil

Is it posible with the heads still on? I'm not very optimistic about it
Anyone installed twin pumps in a van?

Advice greatly apreciated

Re: Injector swap / big oil

Both can be done.
For the inj. There is 2 way's to do it.
1- Drop the motor off of the motor mounts.
2- What i have done. Remove the coil off of the inj. It gives you room to remove.
As far as oil. Same as f. You have to change fuel system also.
No room for oem filter with 2 pumps.

Sounds great I'll do like you.
BTW - Did you do yours before / after the lift blocks?
Fuel? - I'll let Dennis (ITP ) take care of that

Before and after
After was a breeze. Well worth it to lift 1 inch.
Does your DP cause oil issues? Dam splits

Re: Injector swap / big oil

Oil issues? You bet! The DP causes all kind of codes... My old SCMT never did that....meaning the SCMT is the better one? HA,HA j/k....rotflmao
No, serious: I got the famous P1211 along with EX back pressure, overboost, and VSS codes. I've also experienced MEGA-rough idle a couple of times without setting any code...?
And splits? I thought we had singles (pre 99)?

Re: Injector swap / big oil

94.5 to 96 AA singles.
97 on AB splits. I have AB.
I think 99 is when the vans went AD split.
Van's were setup as cali trucks.
I have same problems as you.
We need singles with an IC.
Do you have your PCM code?

Re: Injector swap / big oil

Thanks! I didn't know that. I'm reading the ugrades forum too much, and forget that i don't have a F.
PCM family is MLU5, i don't remember the code.
I've been working on a IC setup for some time, but the plumbing drives me nuts!! A buddy of mine (fiberglass artist ) is trying to redesign the hood for the pipes - it could be awsome, or plain out ugly. We'll see....

Re: Injector swap / big oil

Your code is MLU5---49 state. I guess Norway goes by US spec.
Family is DPC-405
I run out of oil in the 60tow pane mode (sea level). (egt ok)
But LOVE the power.
I had a thought about installing a 17deg pump. It would help. Just have not come across one yet.

Re: Injector swap / big oil

1211 / 0238?
BTW--your 98 i think is AB. I looked it up cannot say for shure AB/AD
AB=120 to 140cc
AD=140 to 160cc
Split vs singles(90cc) stock. Chipped the splits make more power. When you reach the 150cc mark and higher you go singles due to splits eatup all the HP oil.

Re: Injector swap / big oil

Youve got the Van trans issue fixed it looks like with the tranny and the DP programming. What do you think of your lock up switch?
All of the Van injectors on my 01 came out except passenger side number 3, that one you need to remove the switch off the top 4 torx screws. I switched to stage two singles because at the time the only dual pump that was available was the BTS unit and the stacked config didn't fit. Dansk put the terminator on his van it does fit. If you are interested in a single pump capable of flowing more to eliminate codes perhaps Terminator's new cardiac arrest pump?

Re: Injector swap / big oil

1211 and 0238. I don't know why I got 0238 - have the ITP overboost regulator set at 23 psi. Faulty map maybe?
I also got 0470/0478 EBP sensor/ EPR - butterfly is NOT stuck
And 0500 VSS - but only when i burn rubber

Blizzard
I like the lock up switch very much - most for comfort in the lower settings since it makes the van a bit slower.
In the 120/140+pane setting however, it makes it much faster
I haven't read about the new? terminator pump - i think. Is it what they call "medium oil"?

Re: Injector swap / big oil

1211 You know
0238- Its from our old mapp. Nothing wrong with yours. What happens is under high boost it gets erratic signal causing code. Starts at about 24lbs.
0470/78- High ex Backpressure-- The sensor feels the high pressure between the ex mani and turbo house and tries to open the valve. It thinks its closed due to the pressure.

All chip related as is mine.
BTW no VSS code set in mine due to 2wheel abs

Re: Injector swap / big oil

I thought it was chip related. Got codes the very first test drive with the chip. Thanks, it's allways good to know the reason.
BTW - what have you done with your turbo?

Blow it up
I have a 1.00a/r house on it.
Talk about no turbo lagg
I keep a spare rebuilt. Got it down to a 30 minute job.

My only real complaint about jody's chip is-----2 blown dana 60's and one driveshaft. But i have to say its not his fault.
I have to admit its quite funny to see a 7500lb van smoke three 33in tires.
