Installed Magnaflow 4" S.S. exhaust today.

It only took me 1 3/4 hours by myself to remove my existing exhaust & install the complete exhaust system less the downpipe (Thanks to my trusty Super Sawzall).
My buddy didn't have time to modify the downpipe this weekend. The downpipe will hopefully be installed this week).
The Magnaflow exhaust is a complete bolt in.
Even the tailpipe fits perfectly with no modifications whatsoever.
The "only" modifications I made was raise the rear tailpipe hanger about 4" by drilling a new 5/16" hole in the frame, removing the exhaust mount that holds the straight pipe in place (the one that is directly inward of the 2nd battery) and cutting off about 4" of the bracket. Then I welded the 2 halves of the bracket back together and reinstalled it upside down so the hanger rod on the straight pipe would line up with it. It worked great.
I didn't even have to use any of the special s.s. hangers I purchased.

Believe me,this kit is a direct bolt-in on our vans.
I noticed a 2psi increase in boost and temps are about 100 degrees less than my previous Dynomax mufflers I had installed.
I got on it at one point and pegged my boost gauge at 35lbs of boost.
I can hear the turbo whistle a little more but when the 3 1/2" downpipe gets installed I should hear it even more.

A road test confirmed the sound is awesome with zero drone!
The idle is close to stock except it has a throatier sound like a big block chevy.
When you get on the throttle it sounds very cool to say the least.

You can view pics of the system at the following address.

Scroll to the next few pics from this page to see more.

Magnaflow is a winner!
Thank you VAN_350SD for telling me about this system!
It totally rocks!

Aceman,

Great info . Is your friend doing the downpipe doing it in stainless and tell him not to throw away the pattern since if his price is good he may have other customers I plan to do mine after my 3/36 is gone

Re: Installed Magnaflow 4" S.S. exhaust today.

Larry,he will be removing the stock upper downpipe flange and Magnaflow upper downpipe flange and will weld the stock flange to the upper portion to the Magnaflow downpipe. He will have to weld it on perfectly so the downpipe has no clearance problems and lines up with the straight pipe perfectly.
He'll probably tack it first then test fit it to see how it lines up,then finish welding it up.
I wonder how much more my temps will go down & how much more performance I'll see.

I'll see if I can take some pics of the fabrication to see where the flange ends up being welded onto the downpipe for everyones benefit.

Re: Installed Magnaflow 4" S.S. exhaust today.

VISIONQUEST & Sixiron,my van is a "little" louder "now" than the 2 Dynomax 3 1/2" Race Magnum mufflers I had installed on my stock pipes but there is "no" drone on my van.
You could also install 2 magnaflow mufflers if you want it quieter.
The part number of the Magnaflow 4" S.S. tuner series exhaust system which includes the new-style 2 piece downpipe and everything needed for the installation (except downpipe fabrication) is # 15915 for the extended vans and # 15919 for the std. length vans.
Seat of the pants feeling is that I picked up some hp.
Egt reduction is 100 degrees.

My 1/4 mile speed (9000lb van) with the Dynomax mufflers, chip and propane was 16.2seconds @ 89.5 mph according to my Gtech Pro meter.
I tested the 1/4 mile speed today and saw 15.8seconds @ 92.0 mph so it is a little faster (and also sounds really cooool)!
Not bad for a work van, huh?

I really need to have a custom chip made for me especially with the propane so that is the next step.
Diablo has a new flip chip available but I will probably try the TS performance chip as Dennis is a great programmer and might give me a better deal than what I'am currently getting for the Diablo. (right Dennis ).

Re: Installed Magnaflow 4" S.S. exhaust today.

Aceman,

I think you can get by with the 15919 which is for a Super Cab long or short wheel base. JS.
