Looking for factory seat/bed

I'm looking for a ford factory seat/bed to replace my third row fixed bench.
I presume that these ford factory beds were available between 1992 and 1996 (roughly).
Can anyone help?
Thanks!

Re: Looking for factory seat/bed

If you find a gray one, let me know. I've been looking for a few months.

Re: Looking for factory seat/bed

I didn't realize they made them until i found an old brochure that i have, from 1992. They had a bunch of weird configurations back then that i wasn't aware of.

I have a tan one in my 94. It may be retiring soon with 276,000 miles.

Re: Looking for factory seat/bed

I'm interested. Could you send me a picture of the seat once you decide to retire the old workhorse?
Thanks!

Re: Looking for factory seat/bed

This thread has reinforced my determinination to get that old seat. Last night I saw the seat assembly for both the new and old seats at the Ford dealer parts counter. The old and new seats have most of the same part numbers, but what has changed is the no reclining feature on the new seats. The vans are assembled about 30 miles from Cleveland in Lorain. I know that the seats are Johnson Control seats, and I know where they install the cushion and fabric. What I am looking for is the frame assembler on the seats which believe is also near Lorain. I am hoping to find someone that knows if we can buy the old seat parts and rebuild the new seats so they at least recline.

Re: Looking for factory seat/bed

Dave, I have a grey cloth seat/bed in my 1987 e150 conversion which is scheduled for donation. The seat is in good shape, is clean and slides nicely. I also added a stiffening brace. There is one small rip - 2"long - towards the back and is a good canidate for sewing.

Re: Looking for factory seat/bed

Gunksvan,
I think we are all looking for the OEM 3rd row seats that were installed in the Chateau vans from 1992 thru around 1996.

Re: Looking for factory seat/bed

Fellow Vanners,

In my new duties as the dreaded "site police" nothing wrong with this thread ,so far, but the rules put a nix on actually selling, offering for sale, advertising for sale or discussing prices. Do all that off line via either e-mail or PM.

I was lucky since I used the sofa/bed from my 1978 Van conversion in my current ride.

Thanks and good luck on finding a sofa/bed

Re: Looking for factory seat/bed

Larry,

Thanks for keeping us in line. I apologize for any infractions of the rules. I love this fourm and don't want to see it go downhill.
I'm sure we can all agree to help each other "find" these seats without violating the rules. Please chime in again if we get off track.

Dear Gunksvan,
Thanks for chiming in on this thread. As someone has stated earlier, we are looking for the "factory seat/beds" that were offered between 1992 and 1996. I believe that these seats are different than the seats offered pre 1992, but I don't know for sure. Does anyone out there know for sure? I'm in the Metro Detroit area and know someone who might be interested in talking to you about your seat. May I ask where you are located? Thanks again!

Naw nobody's doing noth'n wrong and don't get paranoid over "break'n a rule" or needing to apologize for something you haven't done. What's being done here happens all the time like asking about where to get a pyro, wheels, etc. It's just the actual bartering, discussing pricing, etc. on specific items between members shouldn't be done in the forums and just wanted to remind folks to do that via PM/e-mail. Heck you could even discuss how much you think you should in general pay for this used sofa/bed, etc.

Any way, I haven't looked, but it seems somewhere, there might be a Van recycle place maybe. Also, what makes the older factory ones more desirable over some of the aftermarket ones that might be available?? Seems like anything you get will probably have to be recovered to match anyway. Also, would the RV type sofa beds sold like thru Camping World work?? Just throwing out some random thoughts.

Larry
