metric wrenches or

I have not done much work on van yet but when changing out under battery it seems frame bolts were metric . my build date is 10/98. How much is which ? do I need to carry both sets of wrenches ?

Re: metric wrenches or

I have a good sized set of standard and metric sockets (1/4", 3/8 and 1/2 ratchets), standard wrenches fom teeeninnny up to 1 1/8" with a few various metrics tossed in the box. I also cary a set of screwdrivers same as the wrenches (tiny to HUGE). If you have room for one of those orange "Homer" tool boxes (or equivelant size) to stay in the van somewhere, you would be amazed at how much you can jam into one of the fairly small sized tool boxes available.

I never thought I would need a giant philips head until I broke my filter wrench while changing the oil at an rv park long after the local auto parts store closed (just hammered the screwdriver through the filter and twisted it loose that way).

To make a short story long carry as much as you comfortably can of both metric and standard. It can save headaches in the future.

Man, I even have a rubber mallett and a framing hammer in it that I had to use last week on the trailer I pull (why would any idiot cary a framing hammer and rubber mallett with them???? )

Re: metric wrenches or

After a fair bit of work it appears that there is a nice mixture of SAE and metric on my van (2005), requiring a full set of wrenches & sockets in both to be carried along. The biggest irritation is finding a wrench that almost fits, but not quite and then having to go find the nearest matching size in the other system.
