Just turned 94k on my '99 and it's time to replace the pads all around, front and rear. Anyone have any recommendations on brand and types? I did a search and didn't find much.
I was pleasantly suprised byt the performance of the NAPA gold pads I put on in June. I haven't checked wear life yet, but stopping performance is excellent and there is no brake fade.
I'm also happy with the Bosch pads I'm running up front.
I recommend avoiding most ceramic pads. They work great hot, but when cold have little friction. So early morning, or a panic stop after cruising on the freeway, may take much longer than expected.
Do make sure you properly bed the new pads. This will avoid that pulsing sensation most people call "warped rotors" (it rarely is really warped) by putting down an even deposit of brake pad material on the rotor. This also improves braking performance.
I've dealt with Summit and Jegs for years but just needed some input on what to buy. Even on your link, there's 5 different choices just on page one. I'm assuming just a good OEM type pad, as mine have given almost 100k of service. However, I do tow a 10k trailer, and even though it has electric brakes, maybe I should step up to extreme duty pads.
I would be interested in knowing how this project turns out.
That time is soon comming for me as well.
How about the Rear Pad's? what did you come up with for that?
