No power to A/C

There is no elect. power to my A/C. I have checked my books and their are no Fuses shown. I would think their must be a fuse somewhere. When I move the heater control lever to A/C nothing happens. I checked the plug on the compressor and found no power. I am not sure where to go next.
Thanks for the help.

Re: No power to A/C

The compressor is the last part in the system to get power. There should be at least one safety interlock switch that needs to be satified. Definately a low pressure switch and some have a high pressure switch as well. The low pressure switch will be near the evaporator on the accumulator. Check and see if power has made it that far. If there isn't enough refrigerant in the system this switch will remain open and not allow power to the compressor. I have a pickup, but I'm sure all the systems are similiar. This is just one place to start.
Hope it helps.
Good luck,
Doug

Re: No power to A/C

I concur, take a paper clip and touch the two parts on the inside of the connector that are attatched to the evaporator canister type looking thing. It should be on the passenger side under the hood. You maybe have to remove a battery to get to it, i you have one on that side. If when you touch the two prongs in the connector and the compressor turns on thats a pretty good indiacator that you are low on freon.
