One of our PSD vans lost a water pump today. Any tips?

1995 E350 PSD...
The water pump is pouring water out of the bearing weep hole.
Always been a classic sign to me to change a pump.
I assume it means the same thing on a PSD?

I found a new pump (not reman) for 170 bux.
I'll be putting it on in the AM.
So if you know any tips for this procedure, please throw them out now!

Thanks!
Dave

It is actually an easy job. The only special tools that you need is the clutch fan removal wrenches. I bought my own set since I have 2 PSDs. Instead of a gasket the water pump has a o-ring. My mechanic buddy recommends to use vaseoline on the o-ring.

The pump swap went great!

The next day for that particular van was not so good!

Yes, unfortunately that is our 95 van.
Even worse, I was driving.

I have a bad chest cold, and have been having coughing fits.
That day, they got so bad that I was passing out from lack of oxygen! This is the result of the first time it happened.
The 'boss' grounded me from driving now til I get better.

I had a trailer on the van too.
Ripped the fender and both right side wheels/hubs off when it swiped a tree.

The van went through, then over, a 6" dia tree.
I think the frame is bent on the left side.

WOW!!! hope your ok. Assume you are, since your typing. Call Vicks 44 company & see if they will shoot for a commercial. "What can happen if you dont take care of that cough". BTW was the cough gone when you came to? I know what your talking about when you say, "coughing fits" . Sorry to hear the news, hope you have a speedy recovery.

Re: One of our PSD vans lost a water pump today. Any tips?

Well, the insurance adjuster looked at the van and trailer and said he was going to flag them as totalled.

The ball is in the insurance company's court now.

I hope they play fair.
The van books for 6200, but you can't just find these things locally.
We had it insured for much more, but you know how insurance companies are... It's the almighty dollar for them, not the customer.

I guess I need a new avitar... Or maybe I leave that one as a rememberance of the 95...
