Re: programmers....anyone using them??

Greetings Spikey:
Last weekend I installed/setup the SuperChip tuner on my 03 E-350 PSD.
Funny story:
When I opened the box the 1st thing I saw was the WORNING READ INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE INSTALLATION......so I did, It took me a day and half to try and make sence of the booklet.
So I go too install the 1st stage just 70 hp & 150 ft/lb torque.
Daaaaa....I got it backwards and installed 110 hp & 200 ft/lb torque.
My buddy calls and says "Drive me down to the Gun Shop in Hamilton Sqr."
So when I pulled out of my drovway and started down the street I Lit-up the tires, same thing happed when I pulled away from the 1st stop sigh.
I picked up my Road Buddy at his house.
Now at the 1st red light a young man in a loude sounding new Mustang pulls up along side making much noise.
When the light changed we left togather...Then the van just leaves the kid sitting there with his mouth open, We were doing over 85 mph before I could get my foot off the pedel & on the break.
In the mean time Road Buddy & I are looking for a place to go to change our underware.....This #@%&&^*#@ van is just too dam fast.
We make it to the gun shop & home with out setting off Road Buddys pacemaker.
Where before I take Buddy home I reinstall the factory program.
On Mon. I called SuperChip and asked for help, they talked me throught the correct setting........I LOVE IT NOW
The moral of this story.....There are some thing People over 60 SHOULD NOT DO.
I hope this is of some help.

Re: programmers....anyone using them??

O.K. SPIKEY, I'll ansure your question another way.

I am using the SuperChip Programer model 1705.

Do it work?? YES

I am currently using the "Towing up to 6000lb." setting for every day use, I love the HP improvement over OEM, This thing Kicks Butt!!! However in the next few weeks I shall be towing a 7000lb trailer 2200mi from central N.J. To So. Eastern Arizona....so I just left it in place for now.

Fuel milage is about the same still getting 16.5 mpg......However, I must say this Van is still new only 5584 mi on the clock, So this will improve as time go's on.

I'm not sure what more info you need, But please go ahead and ask, we are here to help.

Re: programmers....anyone using them??

I use the MicroChips Super tuner on the '99 PSD in my '75 E100. I have towed my 7500+ lb trailer from Rhode Island to Kansas and several places in between with great results. I use the lowest setting for towing and that is more than enough. After I installed turbo mods and 4'' exhaust that came with the Banks Power Pack I played with the high setting, but found the lowest one works best when towing so I stick with it all the time.

Definitely recommend getting guages so you can watch your exhaust temps when using the tuner.
