Squeaking leaf springs

Hi everyone,
sometimes my leaf springs squeak, enough annoying to make people at the sidewalk stare...noticed that the plastic between the leafs seems worn and slips out. (5 leaf springs, do not look saggy)
Any point in (or advise against) giving them a spray of some lube? WD40 or something?

Re: Squeaking leaf springs

Haven't had any squeaks with the 99 but I did with the 88. WD-40 or the like will help but it's only temporary.

Re: Squeaking leaf springs

Try using spray silicone on the leaf pack. Yes it needs to be done a few times per year but it will stop the squeaks.

Re: Squeaking leaf springs

Jack the van up, support the frame, let the axle hang. Squirt silicone or (even better) wheel-bearing grease between the leaves. This will quiet the noise.
