(still) can't get my glow plugs to work

I've been having trouble starting for the last month or so, apparently because the glow plugs aren't working. I replaced the glow plug relay first, then I ended up changing all the glow plugs (I burnt them out because I didn't know what I was doing). It seemed to work for a couple days, but once I got to a colder climate it became apparent they weren't actually working. It had just been hot enough in Georgia to start with out them. Now when I turn the key, the relay doesn't make the clicking noise like it's supposed to. I've been extra careful about how long I manually activate the glow plugs (I have a push button to activate them), and they're new so they should still be good. Would this be a fuse problem? The fuse on my brights went out, so could they possibly be part of the same problem? Thanks

peter

Re: (still) can't get my glow plugs to work

Welllll, there is no fuse for the headlights. They are protected by a circuit breaker, if only your high beams do not work then it isn't the breaker since both high and low beams get their power the same.

Simple check, pull off your doghouse, with the ignition on you should have @12v at the small terminal on the drivers' side. You should also have constant @12v at one of the two big terminals.

Re: (still) can't get my glow plugs to work

New GPs were they Motorcraft/Beru..... If they were Champion or Autolite they are probably toast already.....

Visit..... http://www.members.shaw.ca/k2pilot/ and read about the GP removal with swelled GPs....... Take precautions. For all your engine questions re the 7.3 IDI we can also help you over on that forum too.
