Re: tach and pyrometer

Pete,

FastDew did a great writeup on the installation of gauges on his E350. Ijust found it by doing a search of the E Series forum for "gauges". It is titles something like "A-Pillar Gauge Install on '99 E350"

It has a lot of good info, probably just what you are looking for.

Tom

Re: tach and pyrometer

Pete,
I installed a 3 gauge horizontal unit on the top of my dash to the left of the steering wheel. It just sits on the dash in the corner with the wires black taped neatly together and run down the side of the dash between the door and dash. The wires go under the rubber moulding that goes down to the floor, but come out at the bottom of the dash and go to where they need to. Sounds a little junky, but it installs real clean and works well. I have a tack, pyrometer, and boost gauges. All the gauges are Isspro and work very well. The Pyrometer sending unit is installed after the turbo and mounted in the down pipe.
the boost pick up location is just above the battery on the right side of the van looking forward. The mounting location allows very easy reading of the gauges and does not bother the driver while driving at night.

I looked into a column mounted gauge panel for the door column on the drivers door. Problem is reading the gauges. The driver has to take his eyes off the road. The corner location horizontal just to the left of the steering wheel allows very easy observation of the gauges without losing sight of the road.

Works well for me.

Re: tach and pyrometer

Hey Rick,

Got a picture you can e-mail so I can see what it looks like "in person"? I plan on doing gauges this winter, and want to see all my options (a-pillar vs dash).

Thanks

Tom
