E-Series VansTechnical discussion of topics related to vans powered by any of the Navistar engines. This covers a broad number of years, but there isn't enough demand to split it any further.
I ordered an E-350 with PSD, AC, CC, IV class tow package, etc. on April 25th 1999. It arrived at the rail ramp August 4th 1999. I was to take possession within a few days but instead I get a phone call. It is the dealer telling me there was some damage to the vehicle (some scratches in the paint) and Convoy will not release it. I am being told " the damage is over $500.00 and can't be sold as new and will be sent to Auto auction". They will not tell me where the van is or let me look at the damage. I ordered this van to use at my business and need it now. Has anyone heard of anything like this? I am about to come uncorked…
Been there done that...........
Had a dealer tell me the same thing once,
I later found out that he sold it to someone else as it was being taken off of the transport truck.....
They can't sell it as new if it is damaged, been there also......I think what you actually need to do is go wring the General
Managers neck.....my guess....someone else
is driving your truck...
Hey are you in Livingston County Michigan by chance? We might have the same dealer! HAHA

I have a friend at FOMOCO, had him check into the problem of damaged vehicle.
Ford will not sell a damaged vehicle to a customer if damage is over $400.00 the dealer is right.
The vehicle is sent out to be repaired and then sold at auction as used.
Your dealer can find out which auction, go buy it back, and then sell it to you, at a considerable discount!
The person I talked to at FOMOCO got a brand new Aerostar for his neighbor a few years ago for $6000.00 off sticker.
Find the vehicle, tell the dealer to go buy it and get your discount!!
That is unless he sold it!
If a vehicle is damaged it is not even supposed to be left at the dealership, it is supposed to go back with the carrier.
I sure hope this helps, I KNOW MY VAN WAS SOLD TO SOMEONE ELSE.....maybe you will get lucky and find that van and get a deal, I sure hope that you will keep us informed.

Hey, Thanks for your input. The District Rep said he is trying to get a letter from Detroit giving me clearance to view the van. We'll see. I have been told several times, the story of someone else buying it out from under me. I will keep the pressure on 'till I get to the bottom of this. (i think)

Hey, Wednesday I was able to view the van I ordered. The area Rep. made the arrangements. One 7" scratch, and a half dozen smudges. I think it is the transportation person causing me all this grief. My Rep. sez they will have it painted and release it to the dealer where I can buy it as new /w disclosure. Another 2 week minimum.
