Tilt column or larger steering wheel?

Maybe its because I'm 6'4" tall, but my steering wheel obscures my instruments.

The top half of the speedo is blocked. Now that I put in the Superduty cluster, I can't see the oil pressure and fuel gauge.

Is there a tilt column for the E-series? Or is it like the Chevy vans of a few years back where they are all tilt columns but only need a minor mod to make them work?

Anyone tried a larger OD steering wheel? (FWIW, I don't care about the airbag.)

I've never seen an E-series without tilt. Are you sure?

Anyways, most have it, so finding parts should be easy. Doing the swap could be hard though since I hear pulling the clockspring assembly isn't easy.

There is a larger steering wheel that is the same style. It was put into later F53 motorhomes. Your existing airbag and cruise control would swap into the F53 wheel.

No tilt... no cruise.. just airbag (which I can do without). So I shouldn't need to worry about the clockspring at all.

Looks like the column mechanism itself is capable of tilt, but the shift rod is not.

I think a steering wheel sounds like the easier fix.

When I ordered my 2000 E350 SD the tilt steering and cruise was an option and I didn't order it for my van. I'm 6'7" and unbolted the driver's seat from the pedestal (4 bolts) and drilled 4 new holes about 2" further back in the pedestal. It made a world of difference in comfort.

I will never order another vehicle without all the options again. On this 2000, I got everything including the "One-Up" Front End Spring Beef-Up System Option.

The only thing I did not get was a CD player. It just came with a cassette.

And the Rims, I got the van with stock steels, I ordered a set of the Alcoa's from Southwest Wheel and I'M glad I did.

The Centermatic wheel balancers help keep the front end straight and tight. My van tracks perfect, on a flat HWY I can let go of the wheel and it stays straight.

I put Standyne in my fuel when I fill up, anyone else use it?

My seat is far enough back - but you gave me an idea. I'm going to look at cutting down the pedestal. That will give me a better view of the dash and more room between the seat and steering wheel.
