Howdy to all, here's hoping you all had a great Memorial Day weekend:thumbsup::usaflag2: My Granddad was a Higgins driver, Navy, Omaha wave one, he took the 29th ID (The Blue/Grey) off of the USS Charles Carroll...They were hero's all...:usaflag2:
Anyhow....
I have the paid app, and I was wondering what else is required to get all the available/ needed gauges to display data on an android/tablet, I just crossed the 100k mile mark on a barn find 2003/7.3 and I want to start a data base of changes in temps and the like, I'm kind of behind a bit on the way to get the best stuff displayed.
Any tips on how to get every bit of possible info out of the OBD?
Thanks!
Cool Beans on Granddad, my late great father fought in WWII as well and I have his old gear, I can't list here. They were Americas greatest generation.
One cool thing is to make your Van a WiFi Van, eGeek® WIFI Wireless OBD2 Auto Scanner Adapter Scan Tool for iPhone iPad iPod on Amazon. Then you can communicate by simply hooking it to the ODB Port.
ScanTool 425801 OBDLink SX USB: OBD Adapter/Diagnostic Scanner for Windows
Is this in drive standing still? (load 17.3) Also gear 1? this tells you what gear the tranny is in? The voltage seems a tad low, what does AD stand for? And does anyone know if this will work on a nokia lumia phone? or a regular lap top pc? I like this, and think it could be useful.
If you want to go wireless, there are a number of Bluetooth adapters out there. Some as cheap as $13 on Amazon/Ebay (you get what you pay for), and some as high as $150 that power down when you shut off the truck. Go to Tourque's forum and do a little searching around. Forums — Torque
I forgot to add that I already have the Bluetooth OBD, and was using the Torque app and it gives me some of the info, but I don't see the egt or coolant/trans temps. Thanks for all the replies and info! I'll do some reading and figure it out, Thanks!
There is no egt sensor on the 7.3, you'll have to add one manually and read it manually.
There isn't an easy way to read the coolant sensor but some people have managed to, you're going to have to do some research to find out how.
But you can read the transmission temperature.
Did you see the picture I posted of my torque Pro app?
I honestly don't remember when that picture was taken, most likely had the AC blowing on high and it will read 1 gear even if you're in park but once you start driving the gears it will read properly.
"AD" I think means at the adapter (obd port)
fyi I have a galaxy note 3, I couldn't tell you if it would work on your phone.
I've never been able to find the trans temp, it doesn't seem to show up on the Torque App ....not sure why, and I would like to add the EGT sensor as well, any tips/part #'s?
Thanks.
Cooler, I have VeePeak OBD2 wifi adapter (wireless and works with both android and I-phone). I loaded Torque Pro onto an unused nook tablet we had laying around and it works great. I can see Trans Temp, EOT, Voltage, Boost, etc. just fine. You will not be able to see coolant temp or EGT's on any app since the CPU doesn't use them. I just bought Autolite Z-series EGT and trans temp gauges because they are so important. Installation is easy, here you go:
Check my thread for the EGT and water temp guage pictures, I'll try to answer your questions.
