E-Series VansTechnical discussion of topics related to vans powered by any of the Navistar engines. This covers a broad number of years, but there isn't enough demand to split it any further.
Gentlemen, After switching from to the dark side (PSD to gasser) I'm in need of the super duty dumbo stye trailer tow mirrows for the (new to me) 2000 E250. I don't know if they will even bolt up, but I guess that is why I'm asking the pro's on DS. Any comments, sugestion, rude remarks?
Thanks,
Ray Glenn

sold the F250 PSD, had to buy the gasser E250....
Maybe it's been done but as far as I know it's gonna be a custom job. At least you have the area on the door to do it and no vent windows to deal with. There is a fella on the 94-97 forum that put them on his truck, looked a little half-baked to me, you lose the entire vent windows and get a pillar blind spot the size of a Greyhound bus. The factory tow mirrors for E-vans are still the old timey door mounted swing outs that they have been using since the 80's, non-powered. I have them on my 96. A pain to adjust and unusable without a good sized convex on the pass side but they get the job done.
I just looked on Ford's website at the 2003 E Series. It lists telescopic trailer tow mirrors as an option.
If they fit the '03 they shouldn't be too hard to adapt to a '00. I'll bet buying them from the parts department will cost a lot more than the $80 for the option!
I might check that out! I guess they have a different mount than the Superduty ones, the van sides seem to have a flatter mounting surface. Only an $80 option? Like you were saying, to buy everything at the stealer' probably five or six hundred bucks.
Requires significant drilling to your doors-once you start, there's no turning back. I bought the E550 mirrors from fordpartsonline, about $300 shipped, plan to start the install when it cools off a little. I'll post pics & info when I'm done. Here's some other posts about it: E-van tow mirrors

2001 E-350 Chateau Quigley--SOLD!!! 7.3 liter PSD, Oxford White Clearcoat/Medium Parchment Cloth, 3.55 limited slip axles, dual alternators, AIC, factory running boards, privacy glass, power driver seat. UPGRADES: Alcoa wheels, Lund Moonvisor, 4 passenger Medium Parchment Cloth rear bench seat (11 passenger Chateau now), Cobra 2000 watt inverter, 46 gal TransferFlow tank, Velvet Ride shackles, CorrecTrack Rear Wheel Spacers, Rancho 9000 shocks. Great family truckster for me, the wife, & 5 kids.
You can get the superduty PU stylee mirrors for the vans at you dealer. The power ones are pretty expensive though. ($400 each I think). I went cheaper, and got the motohome mirrors. They are also used on some of the cube vans. They are power mirrors, and heated. I got them of Ebay for $400 for the pair, including shipping. Very nice for towing. It the extentable ones were cheaper, I'd get those because the MH mirrirs aren't extandable, only foldable. Mounted up easily, except when I dropped one of the nut/washer combos into the door.
