trailer charge wire relay??????

Just purchased a new trailer and a prodigy brake controller.
Have done a search and come up empty on this.
Not getting power to the charge wire. I know a relay is needed......but where is it??? Is it under the dash or in the power distribution block under the hood (I do have an empty relay socket there)?
Is the relay something that Autozone would carry, or is it a dealer item?

Oh yeah, '99 E350 is what I'm in.

Thanks in advance for any input

Re: trailer charge wire relay??????

added the fuse and relay this morning........turned into a problem!!!!!!!

The guy at the trailer shop didn't know about the fuse or relay for trailer lights and charge wire. He spliced a wire into my parking lights to get that to work (no biggie at the time). When I installed the relay and fuse I thought all was good.......power to charge wire when ignition key on and power to trailer ights when parking lights were on.......very nice (or so I thought). Turned off parking lights and lights stayed on. Pulled the fuse lights went off. put fuse back in......lights still off. turn lights on.....good. Turn lights back off and lights stayed on .

Climbed around and under the van. Saw the spliced in wire and thought to myself "no way that could be it!!!!". finally gave up and pulled the splice out. Everything now works great. I have no idea how it was messing it up but somehow that splice reacted with the electical somehow.

Fought with my father a bit about setting up the controller myself (he wanted the "professionals" at the trailer shop to do it "after all, they do this type of thing for a living and know how to do it correctly"). I told my father about it this morning and I think it embarrassed him JUST A LITTLE BIT!!!!!!!!!
We were supposed to take the van back in Monday to have the guy wire in the battery charge wire (I know he would've done a direct splice from the battery).

Sad part about it is that the trailer shop is a rather large shop in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.

All is good now though.......lights work when they should and not when they shouln't.......battery charge wire is hot when it should be and not when it shouldn't be!!!!!!

I told my father (as he told me many times when I was young) "if you want it done RIGHT........do it yourself!!!!!" If you don't know how.....LEARN how!
