Where's the easiest place to put a sender? I've got a '04 E350 with the 5.4. I read somewhere that there's a "test port" near the trans that you can screw a sender into. I'd rather not have to drill a hole in the pan and braze in an adapter if I can avoid it.

What kind of sender are you installing? Make sure that you don't have a sensor probe that is too long for the test port. If that happens, it will bottom out and you will strip the threads. Make sure you have teflon on the threads......but don't block the electrical contact. When you take out the plug, don't be alarmed that you aren't getting a stream of transmission fluid coming at you. As I recall, only a few drops.

Yea, I will be installing the Autometer Phantom gauge too, I don't have it yet so I can't check the length of the sensor probe. Is there an adapter that's needed or does it come with?
