Transmission Range Sensor
Today I took my 1993 E350 7.3 L Ford Club Wagon into the Ford dealer in Port Washington, WI for the 60,000 mi. scheduled maintenance. They informed me that the transmission would likely fail if I did not replace the transmission range sensor (new part # F5TZ7A247A), although it is working fine now. Cost of part = $195.00 (including labor - what a bargain!!!!!)
Question 1: Is this the normal way to go about getting screwed at 60,000? Or is Ford Motor Company innovative once again?
Question 2: Why isn't Ford taking responsibility for their faulty product? Why is it my responsibility to pay (they advised me that this was "not a safety issue.")?
Question 3: Have any of you experienced this? If so, is this a fair price?
Question 4: Is $550.00 about average for comlete 60,000 mi scheduled maintenance?
Looking forward to hearing from others who have taken it up the tailpipe.
