Turbo is bad...'02 7.3 E350

Local shop quoted my uncle $1750 to replace it with stock parts. Is there a better turbo that he should put in since he has to do it anyway? Is the $1750 a reasonable price?

Thanks!

Chris

Re: Turbo is bad...'02 7.3 E350

hey ,chris if you can do yourself as SIX said beans can hook you up with a nice unit better than stock an you can save about $900.00 its not real hard maybe about 4hrs taking time , you could do on 1 hour once you have done it replace pedistel and turbo o-rings with viton ones ,if you feel like modding while in there you could gut the EBPV also make sure the intake boots are good mine were shot and falling off was losing boost,Wade

Al, BLIZZARDVAN runs an upgradded wide open performance quickspool

Re: Turbo is bad...'02 7.3 E350

Hi Chris, if you looking for low buck band aid to fix the van in (like you where thinking of trading it or selling it), Ive got a perfectly good used turbo off a 02 E350. I bought a new replacement turbo for my van, no reason, Im just goofy that way. The turbo worked fine, feels good, is sitting in my shop collecting dust. Its got 400+k on it, but its all highway, never really loaded and it came off a bone stock motor, with no mods, 100% stock. I ran the west coast and back to Illnois last fall right before I popped it off, and was making ample boost and the motor uses little oil. I dont think youd want to use it for a long term replacement, but if you need to get it back on the road, let me know, Im looking for $100 plus ground shipping... good luck, Bill

A guy I grew up with specializes in rebuilding turbos, & his dad is an ingineer for turbos. He machines & balances & knows alot of tricks & custom tweeking etc... I trust him 100% + I'm gonna let him do one for me when mine gets poor. He operates near Ocala Fl. EVERGREEN Turbo. Real nice guy, & his real name is Charlie Brown.(hehe good for breaking ice with the girls back in the ol highschool days) Bend his ear,1-800-275-2531.
