Re: Turbo Bolts

Yep, here are some pictures of mine:

Top Bolt

Bottom Bolt

The bottom bolt is trapped by the bolt holding the pedestal.

I had the dealer install the new bolt kit # 1C3Z-9G486-AA per SSM# 14753 7.3L turbo bolts loose. I will check'em out after awhile to make sure all is well.

Re: Turbo Bolts

Turbo bolts are still tight at 104,000 miles but I did need to snug up the left manifold to turbo pipe clamp bolts two weeks ago.

Rob S.

How many miles do you have on "the rig"

the mechanic at my dealer looked at me funny when I mentioned loose turbo bolts.

What is SSM#14753?

Re: Turbo Bolts

Nailbanger1

At the moment I have 17K miles. The bolts first came out around 5K, and since then I have been retightening them until I had more reasons to take it in for warranty work.

I think its standard practice for dealers to give you that “funny” look. No matter the problem they always look/act like they never heard of any problem with any vehicle. After I presented my pictures their funny look disappeared and they installed the new bolts. I wasn’t so lucky with my other problems – noisy vacuum pump and intermittent electric door lock on the sliding door.

Anyway, I believe SSM#14753 is the service bulletin for "loose turbo bolts". I obtained this information from another poster in the "Engine and Drivetrain" forum.

I would definitely check your bolts…

Re: Turbo Bolts

Checked my turbo today and all are tight @ 10k. I drove to the store with the engine cowl off. That is one loud engine!!!!!!!!

Re: Turbo Bolts

I took the clubwagon in today, mentioned SSM #14753 and got a blank look from the writer, however another guy at the counter looked it up, they checked my turbo and found a loose bolt and did the service under warranty.

Thanks for the tip!
