E-Series VansTechnical discussion of topics related to vans powered by any of the Navistar engines. This covers a broad number of years, but there isn't enough demand to split it any further.
I just did this. There might be some performance benefits, but the big gain is that it removes one of the big leaking spots on the engine. You need to get a non-ebpv pedestal from dieselsite for about $110 then remove the butterfly valve and plug up the holes with 3/4 inch freeze/expansion plug. So far I see no performance gain or loss, but for the first time since I bought the van I don't drip oil.

Thanks, Clark. Ddog gave me some info in another post and I was attempting to delete this one as you were posting. But while we're communicating, mine has never dripped oil, so I'm guessing, that I don't need to worry about it. Just in case I do remove it, ddog suggested knocking out the butterfly and welding the holes closed. Simple job, and he didn't mention anything about buying a new pedestal. Is the new pedestal necessary?
No , but sometimes the shaft that connects to the EBPV leaks oil from the solenoid. I have a spare turbo where the guy just removed the shaft and the solenoid and welded them closed. I like my EBPV it warms the truck up faster in the winter. If it was leaking though It would be a different story. . .
