V10 tach

I've got a V10 in my E350. Anyone have recommendations on a tach?

TIA, Daddio

Re: V10 tach

I have to ask this.

In an E-series, where are you gonna put the gauge itself? I don't remember exactly what the newer vans look like, but there's nowhere to fit anything extra in my '84 except on the passenger's side.

Not trying to flame; just curious

Pillar mount, or on the steering column left side. Now if wer're talking a about a 5 inch unit with shift light, you're right, not much room. I've been toying with the idea myself, it looks like the smaller units will fit in and not look too bad.

Ah I see...I didn't know they made pillar mounts for newer vans.

Re: V10 tach

The larger question here is how are you going to hook the tach up?

With magnets on the balancer and hope they don't fall/fly off in a couple of years? There is no coil on a V10... or rather, there are 10 little coils on a V10... depending on if your glass is half empty or half full I suppose, but either way, I have YET to find an off the shelf tach designed for this 10 cylinder engine that hooks up electronically.

And even with the magnets, the ISSPRO tach I have has to be set to 2 cylinders. I haven't hooked this tach up yet, because I hate glue.

When you DO find a tach that will work on a Ford V10, be sure and post here, or let me know... and my order will be right behind yours!
