Unhappy van wont start...no SES light...please help

Hey everyone,
I have a 2002 e350 psd. Yesterday, all fine. went 200 miles all good.
today, went to go to work and when it first started up it sounded like glow plugs didn't have a chance to heat up? it started a little slower and chunkier than normal.
i got about 4 blocks away from my house and it died. I was able to restart eventually, and limp it home. i let it idle for awhile and drove it again around the block. it seemed all OK until i floored it then it sputtered and i barely made it home. no light, so im guessing no codes?
I changed the cps just for kicks, but no avail.
any help would be appreciated, thanks.

First thing is to check your oil level. Low oil can give you these symptoms

Hey thanks for the reply...man, i feel dumb.
yes, i was like 6 quarts low!!! and what is most concerning is i just changed my oil 1000 miles ago. the only change is i switched to synthetic at that time.
any idea why i am losing so much oil?
now with oil in it, it runs, but not very well.

Injector o-rings could be leaking oil into the fuel and you could be burning it. See if your fuel filter is black. Turbo could be leaking too . . .

Yes, filter is black...
a am seeing some light colored smoke, when i never saw any before.
can there be codes stored when there is no ses light present? or can it tell me if it is injector or turbo??
van seems to be running about 90% with a slightly rougher idle than before.

You need to monitor the consumption and drive normally. If the consumption is constant and the filter gets black right away it's the o-rings. I drove my truck until it failed ( never started again ) before I replaced the o-rings. Big difference in oil consumption and starting with new o-rings. If you accellerate hard and you see blue smoke it could be the Turbo or a combination of both. How many miles on the ***** ?
I just read your sig and if the o-rings are original then you need to replace them at 220 k for sure. Get them from International. They are cheaper than Ford. Make sure to buy end rail plugs too . . .
