WARNING - Air box lid warped at 42K miles

I was out just now checking out the connector on my Van in preps for fabricating my injector cutout box. It's that connector right over the fuel filter. So any way I take the airbox off and just happened to notice it's warped where the oval area is that slips into the rubber air duct. I'm not sure if it's leaked any, but my last oil analysis at 37K was great and one done at just over 40K is pending. The warp is on the passenger side on the underneath side. It's not visible unless you take at least the airbox lid off. This might be a heat related issue since I run my Van really hard and get it good and sweaty often . I've done nothing that would have changed the factory air flow around the airbox.

I would strongly advise all Van owners check their airbox tops periodically to make sure nothing has warped. This might just be one of those random things, but if it leaks it could cost you a 10K engine and might not be covered under your engine warranty.

The top is not available separately, but fortunately the whole air box from my dealer is only $180 so I'm just getting a whole new one. Not sure if it would be covered under the 5/100, but with the $100 deductible I'm just going to do it myself and not let the dealer use my great running Van as a guiena pig for any flashes, etc.

Eventually, I'll take a pic and post it, but it will be some time before that happens.

hmmm i didn't think it important but now that you mention it I think mine might be warped also. But can't check it becasue Ford still has it for repairs. They started 4/17/04 and they still can't figure out why it loses power/boost. Thank God they are all trained professionals or I may never see my van again.
