what is my rear axle capacity now?

My van came with a semi float 3.73 rear axle rated for 6300 lbs. I have put a 4.10 full float rear end in it and I believe that rear end is rated for something like 8,000lbs. Can someone clarify that for me. What are your 4.10 full floats rated for. I would assume they put more springs under the rear for that kind of increase too, but my reason for doing it is for towing, not for payload in the van, just curious what your vans are rated for with 4.10 full float. Re: what is my rear axle capacity now?

From what I can see on the ford pages, with the V10 or PSD, a 4.10 is rated to tow 10,000#

If you are talking about the 460, the 351 or the old diesel, don't know.

There are several "you gottas" to get truly close to this rating, as I'm sure others will mention

Re: what is my rear axle capacity now?

Thanks for the response! On the door post of the van it will have a rear axle weight capacity and I was wondering if someone with a full float 4.10 could look at their rear axle rating on the door post and tell me what weight the rear axle is rated for.
I know that the 4.10 can tow 10,000 and the GVWR is at 18,500 with 4.10 and the V10, but was curious about the rear axle weight rating.
Thanks Andrew.

Re: what is my rear axle capacity now?

I not sure where you got that 6300 from, mine are both full floating and both say 6084lbs. That number just happens to coincide with the maximum the two stock rear tires were rated to carry. 3042+3042= 6084 Tony

Re: what is my rear axle capacity now?

I thought it through on the weekend and yes the rear tires are the limiting factor, thanks for posting. The heavier rating must be for the dually Econoline. Andrew
