What next????!!!!!

I need more power!!!! Well not really, but I can't help it.

Currently have DP 80E, 120 Race, 140 Aggressive. 4" Turbo back, and my DIY twin air filter will be done soon. On 120, I will get an SES light which I am assuming is low ICP pressure. 140 makes tons of smoke, and the light will come on even sooner. I never had the codes read. I have seen 31 psi accelerating to about 80. It has never been down the 1320, but I am hoping I can see a 15.50? Does this seem reasonable?

Short of big oil, how can I get in the 14's. Injectors, right? I would like to pick up a good set of stock injectors, and get the DIY kit from diy-injectors.com. Convert to single shot, but what stage? Any help here would be appreciated.

And then I will need water injection to keep the EGT's from going off the charts?

I know all about my PMR's and the 400 max safe level.

Thanks!!!
Ryan

Re: What next????!!!!!

Bigger injectors and some water are your next step. I went with stage 2 singles to help with the ICP error. I don't throw that code very often. I would suggest getting a bigger watertank than what comes with the Snow kit if you go that direction. With two 620 jets I empty it before I can make it 1/4 mile. An H2e or varient will help drop your egt's and burn the fuel your putting in the motor. You will also be approaching the point when a little containment wouldn't hurt. I've pretty much been stopped until I can get the motor out, fire ring and get some better head studs. Your probably going to want to think about a return fuel system as well with the stage 2`s? Remember though, this all doesn't have to happen at once as long as you keep your tunes mellow and watch your gauges you can build in stages. I recieved a lot of help from Zane at Wide open performance and have been real happy with the recipes he puts together. As well, everything has been very duarble. I've got over 100,000 mile on alot of the parts that have found their way on my Van. Good luck with your build it is great seeing more people building up their vans.

Re: What next????!!!!!

If you are not going with big oil I'd suggest stage two singles. Last I spoke to Jody he was partial to the sinlgles for most applications as well and I figure he knows since he watches cylinder pressures as he programs. Plus with PMR's I think they are easier on the Rods but I am really guessing with that statement or probably just repeating some one else's opinion?

The turbo I got was the QSSB from wide open and without an intercooler it was the best way at the time to move enough exhaust so I could keep EGt's down and my foot in it for any period of time?

And yes 14's are obtainable.

Re: What next????!!!!!

THanks for the input. Anybody know what my van weighs? It is a standard length cargo with no windows. From searching around I found curb weight with a 5.4 is about 5800. How much does the 7.3 add?

Re: What next????!!!!!

I weighed the van today. With a full tank of fuel, bulkhead, plywood floor, ladder rack, and me, it came in at 6510.

Re: What next????!!!!!

I weighed my van about three months ago and it was 8460. The curb weight on the PSD E-Series is about 5650. Not for sure on the exact number but will keep my eye's open for the real weight.

I take it your van was loaded? From what I have found, the curb weight of an e-350 standard length 5.4 is about 5800.

Re: What next????!!!!!

I have never put it on a dyno which is why I don't say what it produces. This set up is pretty common in a number of trucks Wide open performance has built and usually sees mid to low fours HP? Until I get the head studs and fire rings taken care of I have asked Jody to keep the tunes mello 120hp I think is the burn he put on my #5 position.

I don't really have a hp number to attribute to the stage 2 singles but I have been happy with them.

Oh, and my van weighs 7900 pounds empty according to the CAT scale at the local truck stop.

Will

Re: What next????!!!!!

Do the stage 2's kill fuel economy, if you try & keep your foot out of it? Do you have trouble getting traction if you jump on it?
