What is up with my intake?

Hi guys, I have an 03 E350 7.3 PSD. I was wondering if any of you know what is the box that is in between the air box and turbo? The intake tube tee's off and goes to this box which is mounted right behind the fuel bowl. I cannot see anything that goes to this box. Have any of you replaced the factory intake tube with a tube that runs from the air box straight to the turbo? Thanks, Nick

Re: What is up with my intake?

Some resonate......some don't.
Mine doesn't do it at any speed.
I pulled mine after the first couple of times trying to work around it (like it's not tight enough without it ).
The second time I pulled it out.......just decided to cap it off and see if it resonated. Never did.....so it just stayed off. It does make it a bit easier to move around in there.

Re: What is up with my intake?

Seems if you have the newer style turbo wheel its not to bad.
Change over was 98 or 99 don't remember.
Mine is old style (97)(WW). Makes alot of intake noise.
I would love to toss it.(resonator)

Re: What is up with my intake?

I also will cap mine with 2" abs pipe when I upgrade my Turbo intake tube with the hard Black rubber deal I found on Ebay , instead of the orange soft rubber crap. I don't understand why they put such retarded stuff in the vans in the first place. I also installed the WW . When the gatto takes a permanent vacation and I get my PCM flashed it will be a big improvement . I don't care about noise since My Ladders make lots of it. Whoever designed that stupid box should be crucified worse than Jesus.

Re: What is up with my intake?

That orange tube must be on the older vans, I have the black tube in there. Couldn't you just get a piece of hose to run right from the airbox to the turbo bypassing that stupid resonator box?

Re: What is up with my intake?

MadVan
The reason I upgraded was my compressor wheel was really nicked and Jeremy @ LIPD made me a deal I could not refuse for the upgrade so I did it . . . the price was right.

Re: What is up with my intake?

I wondered if the old was damaged.
The OEM and WW are the same wheel in your year van.
