E-Series VansTechnical discussion of topics related to vans powered by any of the Navistar engines. This covers a broad number of years, but there isn't enough demand to split it any further.
I read a lot of secretes and still couldn't find answer. How do you know when to change ?(besides milage) is there any engine symptoms ? Like good idle but poor wide open ?
I always thought if you get to the point that your fuel filter is giving you symptoms you have gone way too long without a change? I think our engines will show signs the ear can pic up at idle more that at full throttle.

The single most important thing in a diesel is a clean air free fuel system. Why roll the dice?

What kind of signs ? I a newb @ diesel. Also if I run some biodiesel or blend etc , I hear it may clean out system & cause early clog & to carry spare. But how will I tell when clogging may be starting ?
Thats good . I'll check mine . Does your lights in dash come on when turning key on for start ? & where in cluster ? bottom left ? next to anything like brakes, seat belts etc.. ?
They light up yellow. And do self check at turn of the key. That was with factory cluster in van. Now i have a f-series cluster in the van and it has more idot lights in it than the e-cluster.
