Re: when to change fuel filter

I always thought if you get to the point that your fuel filter is giving you symptoms you have gone way too long without a change? I think our engines will show signs the ear can pic up at idle more that at full throttle.

Re: when to change fuel filter

I stick to the 15,000 mile rule.
Works for me.
The single most important thing in a diesel is a clean air free fuel system. Why roll the dice?

What kind of signs ? I a newb @ diesel. Also if I run some biodiesel or blend etc , I hear it may clean out system & cause early clog & to carry spare. But how will I tell when clogging may be starting ?

Re: when to change fuel filter

They light up yellow. And do self check at turn of the key. That was with factory cluster in van. Now i have a f-series cluster in the van and it has more idot lights in it than the e-cluster.

In 97 water in fuel light is above wait to start light and fuel filter is below wait to start. Right had side looking at cluster.
