Checked Ebay, no alternators. Have seen them there a million times and now when I need one there's none. Anyone know where I can get one of the take offs from ambulance?
Thanks,
Dann
I got a Mitsubishi 215 amp alternator from a 1996 F350. Came from www.car-part.com recycler search. Cost $100. The mounts for 215 are different, however can be made to fit with some spacers added to the stock 130 amp mount. Belt needs to be changed something around 124-126", kinda hard to find.
I'm having the 215 alternator modified for external three stage voltage regulator from www.amplepower.com to power four Trojan deep cycle batteries.
There is this guy near me in Alabama that has a bunch of diesel ambulances and he sell parts off them.
His phone number is 1-888-695-6801. He is on Hwy 18 out side of Vernon, Alabama.
He is Edwards Wrecker Service
Hope this helps
Dwight

I have several times overhauled generators myself, and it is usually quite fun (and cheap). It is normally either the brushes or the ball-bearings that are broke. The ball-bearings should be some shelf-standard. The brushes should be spare parts, or you may adapt some yourself.
Good luck!

Thanks for that link Larry. A Ford 130 amp alternator for 74.00 is pretty hard to beat. Those "pulls" they're selling usually only have a few miles on them. I'm thinking of getting one just as a spare.

Yea they are basically brand new, not rebuilt and the one I got still has the plugs in it ... they simply cut the wires and removed it. The one I have in front of me is F77U-10316-AA. When I was there it was amazing the amount of "stuff" they had from tires/wheels/seats etc. Even if something isn't listed on ebay, it's probably worth a call to see if they have it.
